Reasons for seeking Counselling or Psychotherapy:
There are many reasons why people seek therapy: insecurity, low self-esteem, anger, family problems, separation or divorce, sexuality or identity issues, cultural differences, long-standing emotional difficulties, loneliness, alientaion, isolation, inner emptiness, a sense of fulility or meaninglessness, troubled thoughts, difficult feelings and behaviour or bodily symptoms. These may all be signs that we have tried to deal with problems by putting them out of our minds. Often events in our formative years influence our current feelings and choices. With a therapist’s help it is possible to understand these experiences and make sense of how they have arisen and continue to affect us.
Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy provide opportunities to talk and think about difficulties as well as aspirations in a safe and completely confidential environment. Therapeutic work can be focussed on a particular difficulty and take a short time, or be more wide ranging and deeper and take longer. Therapy is sometimes not a quick-fix solution, but an investment in yourself, which can be immensely rewarding.
